“Therefore We Did Pour Out Our Souls in Prayer to God”

Brant Gardner

Helaman is first a man of faith and second a man of war. He is leading a unit of Ammonites who have been preserved by their faith through two tremendous battles. Facing innumerable opponents and a mysterious inattentiveness from the central government, Helaman pours out his soul to Yahweh and receives the answer that all will be well. When he shares this news, the entire Nephite army believes him. Certainly they had seen the miraculous salvation of the Ammonites in response to their faith and are willing to exercise their own faith in Yahweh.
