Here the 1830 compositor accidentally set Ammoron as Ammon, the more common Book of Mormon name (which occurs 174 times, compared to 24 times for Ammoron). The correct name was restored in the following (1837) edition. One other example of this mix-up between the two names occurred momentarily in 𝓞:
In this case, Oliver Cowdery immediately corrected Ammon by overwriting the n with an r and then writing the final on inline.
Summary: Maintain the name Ammoron in Alma 57:17 and elsewhere, despite the marginal tendency to replace it with the more common name Ammon.
