In this chapter Helaman continues his report to Moroni.
Helaman received an epistle from Ammoron, the Lamanite king, offering to surrender the city of Antiparah to the Nephites if they would return the large contingent of prisoners that were being transported to Zarahemla.
The proposal was made to Helaman because now that Antipus had been slain, Helaman took over the leadership on the western front. He refused to return the prisoners to Ammoron but said the Nephite forces were sufficient to take Antiparah by direct assault. This threat was sufficient to send the Lamanite occupants of Antiparah in a wild scramble to get out of the city before the attack occurred. Thus the city of Antiparah fell into the hands of the Nephites without the shedding of blood. All of these events occurred in the year 64 B.C.
