The young men’s faith had been justified. Despite many injured, none were dead. This outcome can only be seen as miraculous, given their inexperience. Hand-to-hand combat certainly included a role for ferocity, determination, and sheer luck; but skill in the use of weapons was obviously more important, and these young men could not possibly have had the skill of their adversaries. Their youth may have given them greater speed, stamina, and resilience, allowing them to deflect killing strokes into injurious ones. Thus, there were many wounded, but no dead.
