Apparently Antipus was hard pressed to hold the city of Judea because of the vast number of Lamanites who had the city under attack. Furthermore they had killed the Nephite prisoners except for chief captains, but Helaman does not explain why the Lamanites spared the lives of the chief captains. He thinks they were hauled off as prisoners to the land of Nephi.
