Moroni increases the intensity of his bold front. Not only does he threaten to defeat but also destroy Ammoron in a total war in which even women and children will take part. This escalated threat is unusual in Mesoamerican warfare; the goal was to conquer and then exact tribute, not annihilate. Moroni is presenting the options of exchanging prisoners according to Moroni’s terms or be wiped out with his people.
