Moroni begins by establishing both Ammoron and his predecessor, Amalickiah, as the aggressors. Neither of them would contest that fact. It was not an accusation but a statement of fact. Nevertheless, Moroni was putting it on the record because of the Nephite ideal of fighting only defensive wars (Alma 43:46–47).
