Helaman takes his force directly into the arena of greatest need in the western theater (Moroni remained in the east, v. 7). Here the Lamanites have a strong presence in fortified cities from which they are making headway against the Nephites (v. 8). The stripling warriors do not stay in defensive positions but go where the danger is greatest.
