Of course there was great danger in taking so many prisoners who were actually still in a fighting mode and had to have their weapons forcibly taken away from them. Perhaps Moroni wanted to use these prisoners to exchange for the many Nephites who were being held captive in the numerous cities the Lamanites had already conquered. In any event, it was dangerous to take such a huge body of prisoners into the city of Bountiful.
