“Lehi and His Army”

Brant Gardner

Lehi is the trusted and competent captain who had, under Moroni’s orders, helped create a two-front battle against the Lamanites at the defense of Manti (Alma 43:35–40, 49:16–17). He is clearly a trusted aide and a fierce fighter. Mormon does not give us the precise order of events, so we must deduce them. Lehi’s presence here indicates that Moroni had sent him to reinforce Teancum prior to the feint. When Teancum leads the Lamanite pursuers towards Bountiful, he is met by Lehi and his army.
