While the king-men had refused to take up arms in defense of Zarahemla, they quickly took up arms in their own defense—yet another contrast to the people of Ammon. In spite of their attempts at defense, Moroni defeated them.

Literature: Mormon repeats the previous image of leveling. Moroni’s military defeat “did pull down their pride and… they were hewn down and leveled to the earth.”
