Mormon provides perspective for the reader—“and thus we see” (verse 19). His perspective is that the covenant promises of the Lord with Lehi have always been, and will always be, fulfilled for those who occupy the promised land and remember the Lord and His plan of redemption. The faithful and obedient are “delivered at all times” (verse 22), while the wicked are slain, placed in bondage, or absorbed into the Lamanite population.
