At this point Moroni appears to have achieved his principal aim of fortifying all of the Nephite territory and blocking the Lamanites from penetrating any territory above the land of Nephi. Moroni also began to fortify the eastern seashore and the first major city from which the Lamanites had been driven. Perhaps as a warning to the Lamanites he named this city Moroni after himself.
