“Moroni Caused to Erect Fortifications to Secure Their Armies and Their People from the Hands of Their Enemies”

Brant Gardner

As noted in the commentary on Alma 48:7–8, Nephite lands have experienced three attack points: (1) along the west coast with an incursion at Ammonihah, where, evidently a pass or passable route lay through the mountains between the west coast and the valley of the Sidon; (2) on the east through Antionum; and (3) the head of the Sidon Valley. Moroni had strengthened the west and the east entry points, so this southern defense probably refers the head of the Sidon Valley.
