The Fevers at Some Seasons of the Year

Daniel H. Ludlow

Very little information is provided in the Book of Mormon concerning the climate where the Nephites and Lamanites lived. However, some scholars have assumed that the reference to fevers that occurred at certain seasons of the year in the land of Zarahemla might indicate this particular land was in a tropical or semitropical area. However, as noted by the historian, the effects of these fevers were not too serious "because of the excellent qualities of the many plants and roots which God had prepared to remove the cause of diseases." (Alma 46:40.)
