Redaction: Mormon is telling a sad story of these years, given the Nephite dissensions and wars. Still, his main theme is the gospel story, and he continues that theme, even though the emphasis is on conflict. As Mormon makes a transition from one set of events to the next, he interjects these verses to give us the period’s gospel history.
