Moroni was proud of the fact that they were a remnant of the prophet Joseph who was sold into Egypt. He therefore decided to quote the words of Joseph's father, the prophet Jacob. To give special spiritual significance to the campaign they are about to undertake, he relates the parable of the remnant of Joseph's coat of many colors.
