Historically, the curse of the Nephites always turned out to be their inability to deal with prosperity. Through the blessings of God and the brilliant leadership of Captain Moroni this people had been spared the total ravages of an extended war, and they had gone into prayers of thanksgiving for this blessing. Nevertheless, as the people settled back down without any further threat of annihilation by the Lamanites they soon began to prosper. This turned out to be one of the worst things that could have happened to them.
