Most men want to somehow avoid physical death and live forever, but that would defeat God's plan. It was God's purpose to let the physical death take place and prepare the way for the spirit to be redeemed first. In the Doctrine and Covenants we learn that it is the glory of the redeemed spirit which determines the glory of the resurrected body.1
