“The Soul Shall Be Restored to the Body, and the Body to the Soul”

Brant Gardner

This verse introduces the doctrine of restoration, a theological concept that is not often discussed today. Under its rubric Alma describes fulfillment of prophecy, bodily resurrection, and the quality of our spiritual resurrection. They are all connected by the fact that events on this earth directly influence what will happen in the next life. In all cases, this life is very important, a concept Alma has already insisted on, since this life is when we prepare to meet God (Alma 12:24, 34:32). He first explains that restoration relates to a post-resurrection period.
