“There are many mysteries which are kept, that no one knoweth them save God himself” (compare D&C 25:4). There are many things that, in our present mortal state of weakness and nothingness and with our limited scope of understanding, we are not yet prepared to receive. Articles of Faith 1:9 clearly teaches that God will “yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God” (see also D&C 101:32–34; 121:26–32). We should never lose faith in the things we already know because of the things we do not yet know. We are, however, at liberty to inquire of the Lord about things we sincerely want to know, as Alma did.
Here is one example: “To the world and to the worldly the resurrection is a mystery. In fact, even to those of the household of faith it is incomprehensible and inexplicable. How is it that a dead body can return to life, join with the immortal spirit, and acquire godlike glory and power in the process? It is beyond mortal mind to fathom such a thing. But the Spirit whispers and experience teaches that such is true and real.”30
