The transition to this second topic, the resurrection of the dead, is Alma’s acknowledgement that Corianton also had a question—probably doubts—about how and even whether it would occur. Although Alma gives no more details, it must be closely connected to Corianton’s apostasy. As I read this passage, Corianton isn’t “worried” about the resurrection because it confuses him but rather because he has accepted the Zoramite belief that it is unnecessary. Naturally, disbelief in the Atoning Messiah would also discount his role in the resurrection. This doctrine, which excludes the Messiah, would be some form of the Nehorite religion (see “Excursus: Religion of the Nehors,” following Alma 1).
