“Seek Not After Riches nor the Vain Things of This World”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

The Savior taught in Galilee: “Wherefore, seek not the things of this world but seek ye first to build up the kingdom of God, and to establish his righteousness, and all these things [the things necessary to live in this world] shall be added unto you” (JST, Matthew 6:38).

“Seek not for riches but for wisdom,” that same Lord said in our day, “and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you, and then shall you be made rich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich.” (D&C 6:7; compare D&C 38:39; Jacob 2:17-19; see also Commentary 2:15-18.)
