“Boasting in Thy Strength and Thy Wisdom”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

It is not that Corianton went throughout the streets of Antionum (among the Zoramites) bragging about himself and extolling his virtues. Instead, what he appears to have done is to assume that he possessed strength and wisdom of his own, independent of that strength and wisdom which come from God.

In the parlance of our day, Corianton said, “I can handle it!” Unwilling to trust in the power and ways of the Omnipotent One, Corianton was left to his own resources. He thought he knew better. He felt confident he had the willpower to deal with any eventuality. He fell.
