“There Is No Other Way or Means Whereby Man Can Be Saved”

Brant Gardner

Alma concludes this experience by pinpointing the lesson he wants Shiblon to understand: salvation comes only through the Messiah. Alma had also stressed the Messiah’s role to Helaman, but he had concluded by reminding Helaman of Yahweh’s grace to the fathers. Apparently, Alma was reminding his son not only on the Messiah’s role but on the importance of remembering “the fathers” as precursor to the charge to keep the records. Since Shiblon did not have that dual responsibility, the single lesson was the more important.
