“Cut off from His Presence”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
God seeks no compromise with evil or darkness- they are accorded no amnesty, given no pardons, and claim no place in his eternal kingdom. If mercy should snub justice and allow certain favored sins or sinners place in the heavenly realm, it would no longer be a fit place for the presence of God. Should mercy be granted dominion over justice, heaven would cease to be heaven and God’s word would come to naught. Thus, Christ declared that “no unclean thing can enter into his [the Father’s] kingdom; therefore nothing entereth into his rest save it be those who have washed their garments in my blood, because of their faith, and the repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness unto the end” (3 Nephi 27:19).
