“Teach Them an Everlasting Hatred Against Sin and Iniquity”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

The sanctified have lost their disposition for sin (Mosiah 5:2), and the carnal pastimes of the world are more than abhorrent to them (Alma 13:12). It is not enough to teach the people of God about the gift of repentance; we must teach the awful consequences of transgression and must, to be sure, teach them to hate sin.

Though we exult in the ransoming power of the Holy One of Israel, though we delight in and sing praises to the name of the Mediator of all men, though we glory in the reconciliation with the Father which is made available through the sinless Son of Man, yet prevention is far, far better than redemption.
