“And He Has Also by His Everlasting Power, Delivered Them”

The angel who declared repentance to Alma instructed him never to forget the captivity of his fathers and the Lord’s goodness in delivering them (see Mosiah 27:16). Alma was true to that instruction and frequently returned to that theme in his discourses. This message was particularly poignant for him because, as we have read, he too had been redeemed from bondage by the power of God. As with nations, so with individuals-the transgression of either leads to destruction or bondage and immense suffering.
