“Great Joy in the Fruit of My Labors”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

A father shares with his son the key to happiness. It is to be lost in the service of God, helping to build up His kingdom and bring souls unto Him. Whenever we serve or bless another, there is joy—if we don’t look “beyond the mark” (Jacob 4:14), but stay focused, “with an eye single to the glory of God” (D&C 4:5; see also D&C 82:19). What is the agenda? Loving and serving in the home, Church, or community; doing missionary service; laboring in the temples of the Most High; and the list goes on—finding joy in serving one another is the key to happiness.
