There is a fascinating parallelism as Alma discusses how the angelic visitation changed his life. For three days after the angel’s cease-and-desist order, Alma was struck dumb and says he did not have “the use of [his] limbs.” After he comes to understand the atonement of Christ, however, his “limbs did receive their strength again,” and he recovered the power of speech, sharing the good news with all who would listen (verse 23).
