“Inasmuch as Ye Shall Keep the Commandments of God Ye Shall Prosper in the Land”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

This command and statement of blessing had been among the Nephites from the beginning (see 1 Nephi 2:20-21; 2 Nephi 1:20; Alma 37:13).

“Ye Shall Prosper in the Land”

Ye shall prosper in the land] Prosperity may come in the form of financial reward or the goods of the land. It may, however, come in other ways, such as God opening the windows of heaven and pouring down knowledge upon the heads of his people (see Malachi 3:10; D&C 121:26, 33); bestowing his Spirit or his presence upon individuals or nations (see 2 Nephi 1:20); or, strengthening the missionary effort so that thousands and tens of thousands of our Father’s other children come unto Christ through his Church and kingdom (see Helaman 3:24-25).
