“The Word Did Destroy Their Craft”

Monte S. Nyman

The reaction of the Zoramites to Alma’s and Amulek’s message was collectively negative. The reason for their reaction was worldly aspirations (v. 3). The destruction of “their craft” ( priestcraft) which was built up to get the gain of the world (see 2 Nephi 26:29). As discussed in the previous chapter (see commentary under Alma 31:1–3), we have a similar incident in the Bible where the Apostle Paul destroyed the craft of selling “silver shrines for Diana” throughout Asia (Acts 19:24–28).
