“Do not Procrastinate the Day of Your Repentance Even Until Death”

Brant Gardner

Given our understanding that human beings can learn the gospel and repent in the next life, what does Amulek mean by saying procrastinators will become subject to devil in the next life? The key word is “procrastinated.” Obviously, these procrastinators have to hear and understand the gospel but choose not to act on it—not because of disbelief but because they postpone making the effort required to repent. These people “know” the gospel is important and that they should exercise its power in their lives but do not. Although they do not clearly say they are rejecting the gospel, they are saying, “not yet”—but the results to their souls when death finds them are the same as rejection. They have rejected the gospel, passively rather than actively. Nevertheless, the result is the same. The devil claims them.
