“Bring Fruit Unto Repentance - Immediately Shall the Great Plan of Redemption Be Brought About Unto You”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

With great compassion and solemnity, Amulek exhorts his audience to repent. And what is the reward? Immediately the effects of the Atonement will be unfolded upon you. There is no delay on the part of the Lord. The blessing happens now. Burdens are lifted. Peace is bestowed. The Spirit becomes our companion. Light from the Lord emanates upon the soul at that moment. King Benjamin used similar words in his grand final sermon before the people: “he doth require that ye should do as he hath commanded you; for which if ye do, he doth immediately bless you; and therefore he hath paid you. And ye are still indebted unto him, and are, and will be, forever and ever …” (Mosiah 2:24; emphasis added). When we feel alone and our hope is waning, remember the promise of immediacy inherent in the plan of redemption unto those whose faith is strong and who cultivate a penitent heart. Remember Amulek’s words in Alma 34:31. Remember King Benjamin’s promise in Mosiah 2:24. There is comfort and edification in understanding and experiencing the fulfillment of these sacred promises. We must repent and be grateful for the plan of redemption, for “immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you” (Alma 34:31).
