“The Great and Last Sacrifice”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

Remember that all things point to Christ’s atoning sacrifice. It is the core of the gospel. Amulek reminds the Zoramites that the law of Moses directed the attention of the Israelites to the coming mission of the Messiah. That was its purpose in the times following the Exodus—to refine their spiritual sensibilities so that they could look ahead with joy and obedience to the coming Atonement when sacrifice by the shedding of blood would be done away with. Christ would fulfill the law of Moses through His infinite and eternal sacrifice. Everything in the gospel of Jesus Christ points to that solemn act of love and mercy.
