“Even to Plant the Word in Your Hearts”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

To plant the word in their hearts was to let the idea-the concept that Jesus is the Christ and that he shall come into the world-rest in their minds and hearts, and then to ponder, pray, and thus test its truthfulness. See Alma 32:28; Alma 33:23.

“Out of a Deep Sleep”

How does one describe the process of redemption or second birth? Alma uses such imagery as a changed heart, a soul awakening out of a deep sleep, and the prisoner of darkness being freed to stand in the light. His illustrations are apt. See Commentary 2:168-76.
