“I Desire That Ye Shall Plant This Word in Your Hearts”

Brant Gardner

He summarizes for them the stages of faith. He asks them to “plant this word” about the Messiah in their hearts, exercise a particle of faith (Alma 32:27), and observe its growth that will manifest its goodness. This faith will ultimately make their burdens light. This new God whom he explains to them is not to be worshipped only in communal settings, but in their wilderness, in their fields, their homes, their closets, and their hearts.

Text: There is no chapter break in the 1830 edition. Mormon would see no reason to end a unit since the teaching continues. The current break was apparently created because of the “Amen” that marks the end of Alma’s discourse.
