“Prayer and Worship”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

We worship God in many ways: through love and obedience (see John 14:15), through reverence and devoted service (see 3 Nephi 13:24), and through prayer. Prayer is the very essence of worship. Through prayer we show respect and veneration for the Almighty. We submit to Heavenly Father as we call upon Him in gratitude and reverence for all things (see Alma 33:4–11; 34:17–28). Alma teaches that we can worship God through prayer. As we pray, we truly worship in reverence, we give honor and adoration to our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ. We can worship in the outdoors, in our offices, homes, private places, and congregations. Prayer is the divine communication between God and all mankind.
