“No More Than Desire to Believe”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet
This is the beginning, the introduction to true faith. Alma asks the Zoramites to desire to believe, to hope that perhaps what he is saying is true. One who approaches his or her study and experiment upon the Book of Mormon and the gospel with a neutral attitude may miss the mark and miss the opportunity to know. There must be an openness to the possibility that the gospel message is true. There must be a deliberate suspension of disbelief.
