The Lord taught: “But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required” (Luke 12:48). And furthermore: “For of him unto whom much is given much is required; and he who sins against the greater light shall receive the greater condemnation” (D&C 82:3). We are accountable for what we know. The more we know, the greater the blessings that come from obedience and the more exacting the consequences that come from sin.
