“Because Ye Are Compelled to Be Humble”

Brant Gardner

Alma now holds out the promise. They have been compelled to humility, and because of that state of heart, there are benefits. This is the explanation of the surprising assertion that it was good that they be excluded from the synagogue. What Alma tells them is that their humility combined with their desire places them in a position to repent, or to seek change. That process of changing can bring mercy and the blessings of the gospel.
