After Alma’s prayer of faith and priesthood blessings, the Spirit came. That kind of praying also caused the missionaries’ afflictions to be swallowed in the joy of Christ. It is good to know that whatever we are afflicted with while we are serving the Savior, it can be consumed by the joy we have in him (see also commentary at Alma 27:28).
