“We Thank Thee O God, for We Are a Chosen People unto Thee, While Others Shall Perish”

Ed J. Pinegar, Richard J. Allen

The scriptures teach us that if we are wise, we learn from the mistakes of others (see Mormon 9:28, 31) as well as from their righteous examples (see 4 Nephi 1:15–16). In the Book of Mormon we continually see the consequences of disobedience and the blessings of righteousness. We see the contrast between the wickedness of the Zoramites and the devotion and love of Alma and his companions. Do we pick and choose the commandments we keep? Do we seek to build up the kingdom of God? Do we do what matters most?
