“O Lord My Heart Is Exceedingly Sorrowful”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Alma, deeply agitated for the perversity and hypocrisy that he saw among the Zoramites, poured out his soul in mighty prayer. Contrast the Zoramites’ set prayer with the humble, heartfelt prayer of Alma. He admitted his own weakness in dealing with such blatant sacrilege. He pled for patience, comfort, and success for himself and also for his brethren while suffering afflictions because of the gross behavior around them. He importuned the Lord for success in bringing the apostates and less-actives back to the fold.
