“On One Day of the Week”

Joseph F. McConkie, Robert L. Millet

The manner of worship of the Zoramites, as well as their perverse doctrinal orientation, is most interesting. Their worship was quite simple: on one day of the week (denominated the “day of the Lord”) the people would gather at their own synagogues, ascend one by one the Rameumptom or holy stand, and uniformly utter a prepared prayer. They seemed to be possessed with a belief in what we would call predestination, or unconditional election of individuals to eternal life. They viewed themselves as the elect the chosen and holy ones, while all others were doomed to suffer the wrath of God in hell.
