“Behold It Is the Effect of a Frenzied Mind”

Brant Gardner

Rhetoric: Korihor next attacks the need for a Messiah by deriding the very concept of sin and, hence, its possible remission. For Korihor, there is no coming Messiah; the idea that we might need one is merely “the effect of a frenzied mind.” The desire for forgiveness and redemption is thus the result of mass mental instability, believed only because the people have been led into error by the “traditions of your fathers.”
