“If He Murdered He Was Punished Unto Death”
Capital punishment was in effect among the Nephites. It was the law in ancient Israel and was carried to the New World by this group of Hebrews. See JST, Genesis 9:12-13; Alma 1:14, 18; D&C 42:19.
