“I Do Not Joy in My Own Success Alone”

D. Kelly Ogden, Andrew C. Skinner

Paul and Moroni later wrote that charity is kind, envieth not, and is not puffed up, meaning that there is no resentment or discontent over the good fortune of others; there is no contention for superiority (1 Corinthians 13:4; Moroni 7:45). Those truly converted to Christ are not threatened by others’ talents, abilities, and successes. Here is a classic example. Alma declared, “I do not joy in my own success alone, but my joy is more full because of the success of my brethren.”
