The people of Anti-Nephi-Lehi depart promptly, according to Yahweh’s instructions, but pause on the borders of the land of Zarahemla. Yahweh had not promised anything about their reception. They are therefore cautious and wait for a more formal welcome.
Geography: The “coming over” suggests that the people crossed an elevation to enter the land of Zarahemla. The topology is consistent with the normal Book of Mormon pattern of movement from the land of Nephi to the land of Zarahemla. The presence of the River Sidon flowing to the sea also strongly suggests that Zarahemla is at a higher elevation with the headwaters of the Sidon beginning somewhere in this mountain range where these people crossed over.
