“A Branch of the Tree of Israel… Lost from Its Body”

Reference is to the Lamanites, who lost the knowledge of their rightful inheritance through wickedness and rebellion. This is the same sense in which the tribes of Israel are lost in our day—not in the sense that they are hidden in some unknown place trying to find their way back, but rather that they have become temporarily lost as to their identity and thus as to their place in the Master’s fold. They await the shepherds he sends to search them out from among the nations of the earth.
